2008 Honors!

Bryce K. (contra-bass) won a $12,000 music scholarship to Gonzaga University and Jack B. (guitar) will also attend Gonzaga. Michelle B. (piano) will attend Pepperdine University and Dan M. (cello) will attend Eckerd College. Nathaniel F. (piano) took first place in the Juvenile Ice Dancing Compulsory Dance 2 category to become the best in the nation! John V. (double bass) was 2nd in Gold Division in the Jr. Olympics in Water Polo and is All-American. Tricia B. (viola) , Carter D. (cello) , Bryce K. (contra-bass) , Ben L. (cello) , and John V. (double bass) all performed in the TRL Solo Contest. Katherine M. (piano) , Christopher M. (piano) , Allison C. (piano) , Caitlyn O. (piano) , Tiffany C. (piano) , Keven K. (piano) , Maria K. (piano) , Matthieu G. (piano) , Ellen J. (piano) , Shannon H. (piano) , Adam H. (piano) , Jefferson C. (piano) , Madison H. (piano) , Natalie J. (piano) , and Sarita G. (piano) participated in the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) annual piano festival with over-all VERY high marks. Tricia B. (viola) won the Metropolitan Youth Symphony play-offs to move to the first stand of violas and was in the All-State Orchestra with Ben L. (cello) and Carter D. (cello) . Nathan M. (piano) won multiple top awards for Sheep and Steer categories at the Oregon State Fair. Jefferson C. (piano) won 1st place out of 250 cross country racers in Salem Bush Park and is the Athey Creek Jazz Band accompanist. Kevin K. (piano) is Jazz Band accompanist at Athey Creek M.S. Allison C. (violin, piano, guitar) is the choir accompanist for Lake Ridge H.S. and is in Oregon Repertory Singers with her brother William C. (guitar) . Michelle B. (piano) is Vice President of "Model United Nations" representing Nigera at the National Conference in Washington D.C. and performs regularly at the Portland International Airport on piano. Elizabeth B. (piano) and Raymond B. (piano) earned Jr. Black Belts in Karate. Meghan K. (piano) is Rowing Team Champion and Ski Team Captain. Ellen J. (piano) and Monica M. (piano) sing in the Oregon Children's Choir and Youth Chorale. Katherine M. (piano) is accompanist for Mazula Children's Theatre. Sierra G. (violin) went to State for Robot building. Caitlyn O. (piano) was a finalist in the Oregon Thespians Regional Competition and went to the State competition. John V. (double-bass) and Dan M. (cello) helped their H.S. orchestra qualify for the State Competition. Bryce K. (double-bass) , John V. (double-bass) and Tricia B. (viola) performed with the Metropolitan Youth Symphony in the Arlene Schnitzer concert hall. Louis D. (piano) played the lead in Charlie Brown and Riley O. (piano) played the lead in Jack in the Beanstalk. Kyle L. (double-bass) is WLHS Jazz Band bass player and performed at the Mt. Hood Jazz Festival. Treasa B. (cello) is studying in Japan this summer. Kyle S. (guitar) played saxophone in a marching band. Sarita H. (viola) is a champion bowler in Tigard Bowl League. Katherine M. (piano) and Christopher M. (piano) participated in a National Talent Contest in Indiana. Joey V. (guitar and PSU honors student) and Benjamin W. (piano) both became Eagle Scouts this year! WOW!!

2007 Honors!

Marissa R. (Piano) took 3rd place in voice at the OSAA State Solo Contest. Bryce K. (contra-bass) performed at the State Solo Contest and John V. (contra-bass) was an alternate. Michelle B. , Meghan K. , Christopher M. , Katherine M. , and Andrew W. participated in the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) annual piano festival. Andrew also performed at the Haute Couture Duo Jazz Concert with Treasa B. (cello), Bryce K. (double-bass) , and Dan M. (cello) . Caitlyn O. (piano) and Andrew W. (piano) played in the “30 Hands on 5 Grands” concert at WLHS auditorium with Michael Allen Harrison. Caitlyn was also accompanist for the Missoula Children's Theatre. Andrew was accompanist for his High School musical and scored “excellent” in the National Federation Festival. Treasa B. (cello), John V. (double-bass) and Dan M. (cello) helped their H.S. orchestra's qualify for the State Competition. Julia M. (piano) , Monica M. (piano) and Ellen J. (piano) were in the Portland Symphonic Girls Choir. Joey v. (guitar) was President of the Key Club and a 4.0 student. Joey and Ben B. (violin) formed a rock-band performing original music and were in the “ Battle of the Bands” and other gigs. Riley O. (piano) acted in the musical “Going West.” Michelle B. (piano) scored “excellent” in the N.F. Festival. John V. (double bass) , Bryce K. (double bass), Ben L. (cello) , Dan M. (cello) , Tricia B. (viola), and Treasa B. (cello) , received all 1's at the District Solo Contest. Katherine M. (piano) scored “excellent” in the N.F. Festival and was accompanist for the Missoula Children's Theatre. Adam T. (piano) and Nick G. (banjo) were on the O.P.B. High School TV game-show "High Five". Kennedy C. (piano) was in the Johnny Apple Seed play. Julie I. (piano) received the “outstanding student” award from U.S. Public Health Services. Heide R. (piano) was Millie in the Pirates of Penzance. Jefferson C. (piano) was the Athey Creek Jazz Band accompanist and Samuel in the Pirates of Penzance. Emily F. (piano) was in the Oregon Youth Chorale. Christopher M. (piano) scored “excellent” in the N.F. Festival and was 4th in State FFA parliamentary procedure debate. Meghan K. (piano) National Honor Society, National French Honor Society and Varsity Ski Team Captain.. Nathaniel F. (piano) is still making headlines and focused on ice-skating in future Olympics! Allison C. (violin) and William C. (guitar/flute) performed with the Oregon Rep Singers. Bryce K. (bass) , John V. (bass) , Tricia B. (viola) performed with the Metropolitan Youth Symphony in the Arlene Schnitzer concert hall. Bryce traveled to China with the MYS orchestra this summer.
